About Chicago, Illinois
The Marcus Dental Practice is located in the Loop, downtown Chicago. While this is the central business area for downtown Chicago, you’ll find the Marcus Dental Practice a haven of peace and quiet away from the hustle and bustle of the streets below. This area is also the seat of Cook County and is bordered on the east by Lake Michigan. In the late nineteenth century, the area was bordered by cable car turnarounds and a distinctive elevated railway, which gave the Loop its name.
You’ll find the Loop and the area surrounding the Marcus Dental Practice full of striking architecture. It was damaged extensively during the Great Chicago Fire in 1871, but the area sprung back to life very quickly and in 1885 the Home Insurance Building, widely considered to be the world’s first skyscraper, was completed. Unfortunately, it was demolished in 1931, but the area is still home to some truly iconic skyscrapers. These include the Willis Tower (formerly known as the Sears Tower), which held the accolade of the world’s tallest building for 25 years and is still the second tallest building in the Western Hemisphere.
The Historic Michigan Boulevard District is located within the Loop and the buildings and towers which form Chicago’s iconic skyline and located throughout downtown Chicago. The area also contains a wealth of art and outdoor sculpture, including works by Pablo Picasso, Henry Moore and Alexander Calder.
You can take a stroll down the famous Chicago Riverwalk, often providing recreational and entertainment opportunities, and through Grant Park, where the Chicago symphony performs free, open-air concerts in the summer. When you visit, you’ll find the Marcus Dental Practice located in an inspirational part of the city, giving you the highest quality dental care amongst Chicago’s incredible history.
