Is it time for a dental health checkup?
We often get asked by patients how often they should undergo a dental health checkup and whether there is a set amount of time that should exist between checkups.
At Marcus Dental Practice, we always tell our patients that it completely depends on the patient themselves and the state of their dental health.
With a solid foundation of fifty years of dentistry within the Chicago area, our practice is known for offering the highest levels of dental care possible, and treating each patient as an individual, not just a number.
How to tell if it’s time for a checkup…
Are you experiencing tooth pain or sensitivity?
If you have been experiencing pain or sensitivity in your teeth, mouth or jaw, it’s important that you schedule an appointment to see us as soon as possible. Teeth and mouth pain is a symptom of a variety of dental diseases, and failing to treat the issue at hand will only serve to make the problem worse – the sooner a dental problem is dealt with, the better. Don’t ignore your symptoms: they will only worsen over time. Instead, consult us at Michael Marcus DDS in Chicago, Illinois.
Are your gums bleeding?
Have you noticed that your gums have begun to bleed on a regular basis? If the answer is yes, then you need to schedule an appointment to come and see us as soon as possible. Bleeding gums can be a sign of a number of dental problems, including gingivitis which, if not treated, can lead to tooth loss. While bleeding gums can be caused by dental health problems, it can also be caused by brushing your teeth too hard or by using a new toothbrush.
Do you have sores in your mouth?
If you have noticed that you have sores in your mouth that are taking a little longer than normal to heal or are coming back regularly, it’s a good idea to book an appointment to come and see us for an oral health check. That way, we can identify the cause of the issue and help you to treat and manage the problem.
Have you got bad breath?
Getting bad breath every once in a while is normal, but if you’re constantly suffering from bad breath then it could be caused by a dental problem, such as a cavity or an abscess in your mouth or gums.
Has it been over six months since your last visit to the dentist?
If it has been over six months since your last dental checkup, then you might want to book an appointment to come and see us. It doesn’t matter if your teeth appear healthy – sometimes problems can be hidden – you still need regular dental checkups, to ensure that your mouth and teeth remain healthy.
When it comes to your dental health, it’s important that you take checkups and dental care seriously and consult Michael Marcus DDS in Chicago, Illinois if you find yourself suffering with any of the above dental problems.
